Role: Test Automation QA Lead

Type: Permanent Full Time

Location: Derry, Northern Ireland

Grade: Principal Consultant (5yrs+ experience)

Job Description:

The Test Automation QA Lead plays a critical role in shaping, building and delivering our client's test automation services. They will be involved in designing, creating and executing test automation frameworks for mobile (IOS, Android), Web and cloud-based applications. 

The main objectives of these activities are to ensure the test teams can effectively create and maintain test automation scripts to meet their Agile sprint test deliverables.

  • Own and manage test automation framework
  • Interface with the internal business stakeholders: Head of Operations, Account Manager, Sales Manager and Office Manager
  • Coordinate regular test automation team knowledge sharing, troubleshooting clinics and updates meetings
  • Represent Test Automation in customer meetings. Oversee resolution of automation issues and complaints
  • Liaise with 3rd party hardware and software partners
  • Support new QA & Test sales bids and confirm test automation approaches
  • Upward management reporting, issue and risk escalations to senior management
  • Actively monitor test automation service engagement from customer defect tickets
  • Coach the test team and recommend development paths to build automation skills & capabilities

Will be responsible for the following: 

  • Define and document the test automation approach and methodology
  • Identify, maintain and review industry tool and techniques 
  • Recruit and build their automation capability
  • Monitor the Service Line delivery and customer project achievements
  • Continual assessment of service line capability to meet future business goals
  • Provide pre-sales support
  • Liaising with tool vendors and delivery partners
  • Service line governance and stakeholder management

The Test Automation Lead will also actively be engaged on customer delivery projects. This role suits a senior automation engineer who thrives in building a capability and supporting high-profile business critical projects:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience in a test automation role
  • A degree in Computer Science, IT or Information Systems
  • Experience in a SAAS / Cloud / Mobile environments
  • Experience using Postman APIs, Java
  • Experience of managing and coaching an IT team

The Test Automation Lead is responsible for running, growing and innovating the test automation service line. Typical duties that you will perform include:

  • Analysing the business requirements of customers and internal stakeholders to determine service line roadmap
  • Overseeing the selection all service line technology tools and environments and evaluating against future business goals 
  • Devising and establishing test automation methodologies and approaches to support the implementation of customer automation deliveries

  • Must have experience in building mobile test automation frameworks
  • Provide test automation strategies and detail approaches
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Lead troubleshooting exercises
  • Will be involved in automation (Functional and Non-Functional testing) of various applications, present the metrics to the client stakeholders
  • Design and implement re-usable automation framework using industry standard tools: Postman and WebdriverIO (Appium, Selenium, Browserstack)
  • Produce reports and documentation for automation testing 
  • Understanding of System Architecture
  • Ability to understanding business processes and user behaviours
